As we inch closer towards the start of the NBA season, Philadelphia 76ers shooting guard James Harden continues to limit his participation within organization in hopes of reaching a trade. This comes after having not appeared in any of the teams preseason matches for 2023-24 season.

Now for star players skipping preseason play is not unheard of, but hardens behavior falls directly in line with his public display of disinterest with the team, specifically towards their owner Daryl Morey.
Back in August during an Adidas promotion event in China, Harden verbally maligned the teams organizational owner, calling him a “liar” and that he will “never be apart of an organization that he’s a part of”. Harden’s remarks is believed to be associated with the clubs organization failing to complete a trade request during the offseason.

Harden, The former NBA MVP, has a history of forcing himself out of team situations he doesn’t feel are up to expectations.

Following many failures to make the NBA Finals with the Houston Rockets, Harden was traded to Brooklyn , pairing with Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving. Harden allegedly enforced the trade by showing up late to team practices and publicly bashing the team, stating the Rockets are “Just not good enough, chemistry, talent-wise “ in a press conference in January of 2021.
Just days after these remarks was Harden traded to Brooklyn.

After some time with the Nets Harden would request another trade from the Nets. The team was plagued with Durant’s injuries and Irving’s COVID-19 vaccine hesitancy, the Nets big 3 appeared together in only 16 games. Rejecting the Nets three-year $161 million, Harden is eventually traded to the Philadelphia 76ers in February of 2022.

Just spending over a year with the Nets Harden would request a trade in back in June this year despite picking up his $36 million player option. Nearly four months have passed and Harden is still apart of the team.

If Harden does get traded this will be his fourth team in just as many seasons, and the third situation he forced himself out of.
How do you think the Philadelphia 76ers should handle Hardens situation ?
